Life Coaching/ Mentorship

Making a commitment to find a Life Coach is a powerful INVESTMENT in your SELF, your FUTURE and for everyone around you. It is in the interest of all us that we are living in alignment with ‘who we are’, connected to our truth, purpose and sharing our gifts. A Life Coach or Mentor is a professional who can support you to make the changes needed for creating a life of purpose and fulfillment. It may be that you have entered a significant juncture on your life’s path, one in which you reach a sudden and strong awareness of something needing to change in the way you orientate within your personal and/or work life. This juncture may present as a feeling of living a life which is somehow smaller than you could or should be living, where time is ticking by and your big dreams remain unrealised. It may be you have achieved many of your life goals, of financial financial prosperity and career success, yet you feel lack-luster, unfulfilled, and energetically depleted.

Jess Lakin’s Coaching Practice …

developed organically out of 20 years of professional experience as a Clinical Psychologist, Yoga & Meditation Teacher and Holistic Practitioner. Supporting hundreds of clients over this time frame, Jess has cultivated a deep insight into the human journey of transformation. It is on the basis of this experience on which she has established her Coaching Practice.

Jess bring a high degree of professionalism, and a unique and positive approach. Recognises the individual as inherently ‘whole’ where every aspect of life is in connection with each other. It recognizes that thoughts, feelings, beliefs and attitudes can affect biological functioning. Similarly, diet, posture, the way we move, our relationships and the environment affect our mental state. Jess’ Coaching practice pays attention to and works with the delicate interconnectedness of physical, emotional, mental, energetic and spiritual experiences to support overall well-being.

Jess understands that inherent in each of us is an inner knowing or wisdom, which when accessed will guide us towards health, well-being and transformation. Contrary to a ‘need to fix’ perspective which advocates the use of strategies or offers advice, Jess orientates her practice towards guiding individuals to their inner wisdom through practices of compassionate self-awareness, inner listening and identifying resources. This approach is a highly effective pathway of self-empowerment.


Jess’ Coaching is a convergence psychological and spiritual approaches arising from Western scientific study and Eastern healing modalities. Well versed in the challenges experienced within the modern world, and the benefits and limitations of modern psychological approaches, she compliments this foundational understanding with intuitive and energetic approaches. Jess’ integrative approach quickly gets to the heart of the issue and offers individually tailored creative, accessible and positive packages of care. She draws on practices from the field of Coaching, Psychology, Somatic Psychology, Mindfulness, Meditation, Yogic Practice and Philosophy, Energy Healing Modalities (Sound Healing and Reiki).


The most effective learning comes through doing and experiencing for ourselves. For this reason, Jess incorporates a strong element of experiential practice throughout her work. Mothertree - Child, Parent & Woman

Mothertree Workshops and Resources offer a range of services for women, parents/carers, children and teens. At its heart is the intention to cultivate conscious and compassionate practices, provide nurturing spaces, and build community to support women, children, families, schools and communities by sharing mind/body holistic practices from the fields of yoga, meditation & breath awareness.

Women’s Circles

Mothertree Women’s Circles offer a nurturing and sacred space for women to come together, reclaim their connection, use their voices, be heard and seen. These circles serve as a space for collective ceremony, sharing in mantra, affirmation, meditation and meditative movement practices, and focus on setting intentions, releasing what no longer serves, connecting to the inner landscape and bringing light to areas of challenge or darkness. Connecting and supporting each other in the way is deeply fulfilling and enriching, and is essential to steer us through the challenges of our modern times which can so often be characterized by isolation, fear and competition.

Child & Teen Yoga

Building a practice of inner listening, and mind/body awareness, offers a helpful foundation for youngsters to support life-long physical, mental and emotional well-being, and may contribute towards healthy relationships with self and others.

Child/Teen Yoga and Meditation Packages are designed to provide a developmentally appropriate introductory foundation to yogic practices including asana (posture), breath practices & meditations. Depending on presenting need, these individually tailored packages can support emotion regulation, building confidence, focus, self-awareness, bodily awareness, the ability to self-soothe & relaxation.

Combined with arts and crafts activities, a variety of practices are shared across 5 sessions, and the child/teen works to create his/her own resource folder which will support them into the future. Working across a series of sessions in this way, gives necessary time to build familiarity and confidence with the practices. Sessions are arranged in close conjunction with parents, and incorporate shared child/parent participation and regular reviews.

Parent Coaching

Parent coaching offers individually tailored focussed support for parents seeking breathing space and new perspectives. This work supports parents to establish a new relationship with their role as parent and to bring more harmony into their family. Some may seek out this support to explore a challenging behavior or a particular issue that is arising within a child or another person with the family.

Coaching as opposed to therapy or advice, holds at its heart a self-exploratory approach where change is initiated in the parent through a process of inner enquiry, cultivating compassionate awareness and identifying resources. So in this work the focus steers away from providing solutions and advice. Instead through reflective practices, the parent is supported to bring new awareness, which is often accompanied by a sense of spaciousness, and enables resources and new approaches to be generated from within.

Parent Groups

Mothertree Parenting Groups provide space for parents and carers to come together, take a breath, reconnect and recharge. The groups address common parent challenges, such as re-establishing life balance and self-care, managing the emotional ups and downs, school and home-based issues.

Sharing holistic, mind-body and intuitive practices, of yoga, meditation, breath, and through engaging in interactive and creative activities, participants leave with a toolbox of helpful resources which can be shared with their children and partners. Working across a series of sessions gives time and support for participants to apply these practices into their daily lives. The opportunity to reflect and share within the group creates a powerful vehicle for support, healing and transformation.

This work is deeply empowering, enabling participants to embrace new perspectives on what may have been entrenched situations, and prompting the initiation of new approaches. A further outcome is the creating of supportive and nurturing community networks and resources.

Energy Healing

Combining Reiki, sound immersion and yogic practices, Jess’ personal healing sessions and group events invite a moment to 'let go' and receive, promoting deep relaxation, stress reduction, mental and emotional release, physical rejuvenation, supporting the body's natural ability to heal itself.

Sound Immersion

Sound vibration coupled with intention is a powerful vehicle for transformation and healing. Akin to being bathed, sound vibrations wash over the recipient, releasing energetic blocks in mind and body, recharging down to a cellular level and entraining the mind to meditative frequencies.

Jess’ has worked with sound for 4 years and is a member of the Gong Avatar Academy. She carefully crafts her sound experiences to support her clients to feel safe and ‘let go’ to the experience of receiving sound. She creates immersive sound experiences using gongs, Tibetan bowls, crystal bowls and other musical instruments, layering frequencies with moments of silence.  She specializes in gong meditation and relaxation!

Integrative-Shakti Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese healing art working with Ki, or life force energy that exists around and within the physical forms we see. Reiki treats the whole person, the physical body, mind and spirit and can be experienced as promoting an overall sense of well-being and peace.

Home & Office Blessing

Whether moving into a new home, setting up a new business space. preparing your property for rental, or just feeling the need for a spring clean, Jess can work with you to conduct a ceremony to cleanse energies and prepare for its new purpose.

Health and the Mind

We have come to equate ‘good health’ with the health of the body. There is now well established advice about how to care for our bodies, through nutrition, exercise, and healthily environments. The over-arching message is focussed on removing toxicity, whilst promoting nourishment and balance.

It is less common to consider the nature of our inner environment - the way we use our minds, how we think, our beliefs and attitudes, and our response to emotional experiences. Research is now showing that nourishment and balance within the mental and emotional realms of our experience is AS important for our health and well-being, and when out of balance this environment can become toxic and erosive on our health. It is important to eat well, exercise and nurture the physical body, but do you pay equal attention to nurturing your mind?

A little science

There are numerous and simultaneous process’s going on in the mind at any one moment, and we are only aware of a very small proportion of these. Each thought or emotion can be viewed as an energetic experience, activating chemical and vibrational patterns that send signals to our brain and other parts of the body. These signals create a cascade of chain reactions which directly effect our cells.

Positive and negative emotions/thoughts affect our physiology differently. Where positive emotions/thoughts produce electrical charges that emit faster and higher frequency vibrations, negative emotions/thoughts produce lower frequency vibrations and are associated with heavier sensations, triggering stress chemicals such as cortisol in the body. This pathway linking mental/emotional experience to the physiological mechanism of stress in the body, is so important given that we know stress plays a huge role in the onset of ill health.

So every thought which passes through our mind, whether we are aware of it or not, holds an energetic marker, a vibration, which leaves an imprint in the body, and also is likely to have a powerful impact on behavior.

Healthy Mind Series

I have been circling around the issue of the mental/emotional wellness for 20 years, since my earliest days as a Clinical Psychologist, and I have been fortunate to explore it from the perspective of many different therapeutic approaches. However, from my own personal journey, and my experience in sharing these practices through my Coaching and healing work, I’ve been struck by the effectiveness of meditative and mind-body awareness practice’s for promoting a sense of mental spaciousness, clarity and emotional ease. These subtle and gentle inner practices offer support to every aspect of my life - work, relationships, parenting and most importantly self-care.

I have created a program called ‘Healthy Mind’, a 4 session online series which will support the cultivation of a healthier relationship with your mind through holistic awareness practices.
