The Power of the Circle: Why Women Are Returning To Timeless Spaces
Deep within our collective memory, we know how to do this. Long before modern life pulled us into separate corners, our ancestors gathered in circles to share wisdom, tell stories, and hold space for one another. It is a timeless knowing—one that I have had the privilege to witness time and again. Having hosted circles, groups and gatherings for more than two decades, I have seen firsthand that when women come together in intentional community, a quiet magic happens. It is an ancient medicine that we now need more than ever, as the quickening pace and noise of the modern world leaves so many of us feeling disconnected.
My journey with circles began 25 years ago during my work as a community psychologist. These circles, created for parents who were often chronically isolated and navigating a difficult season with their children, seemed so simple, but their impact was profound. With the arrival of a new member, the circle would wrap them in a blanket of welcoming and care. This sense of holding and acceptance was often all that was needed to initiate a path of hope and healing.
My most vivid memory from those early days was the plate of fruit and biscuits and the warm cup of tea we prepared for every session. We watched as members settled in, took a deep breath, and relaxed. In this space, removed from the pressure of doing things "right or wrong," everyone could feel their value and find their voice. It became a thriving hub filled with precious moments of shared humanity—laughter and tears, empathy, new ideas, and a deep sense of being alongside each other. Ultimately, this weekly hour of nourishment didn’t just stay in the room; it created beautiful ripples of care that traveled straight back into individual family homes.

the Evolution to Online Circles
The impact of those early parenting circles never left me. It shaped my understanding of human connection and has directly guided my practice to this day. Those same core values of nurturing care, equanimity, and community safety have become the foundational principles behind every community space I create. When the pandemic arrived in 2020, I knew the medicine of the circle was needed, so I brought the practice online. What started as a weekly virtual sanctuary has grown into a rich network of connection, including our Mandala Mentorship Circle and in-person retreats.
To the incredible women of this community: thank you. Your warmth, courage, and commitment have breathed life into these spaces and made them a true home. We have been a part of each other’s journeys through the ups and downs, and it is truly incredible to witness our collective growth.
There is a simple magic in joining a circle. It is a space to belong to something greater. A place to practice the art of holding and receiving space. Together, we witness each other, celebrate our successes, and begin to see ourselves in a truer light. It is a sanctuary for active participation, contribution, and voice where we learn of our shared commonality and our distinct uniqueness, and ultimately find clarity for the road ahead.
If you are called to join one of our spaces, I would love to welcome you. Reach out here to learn more about my upcoming offerings and events.
